Tree Removal Work From Our Crew
These are from recent removals by our crew: a trunk cut into rounds behind a house, the bucket truck set up in a driveway, and the chipper taking the brush as it comes down. Blacklick removals tend to run the same way, because the trees worth worrying about stand at the edge of the yard, leaning out of the woods toward the lawn. Each one is cut so it lands where cleanup is easy, then chipped and cleared before we leave.

Tree Removal Across Blacklick, OH
Blacklick is not a city. It is an unincorporated community, much of it in Jefferson Township, grown up around creek valleys and old farm woodlots on the east side of the metro. It sits right beside our base in Reynoldsburg, so a visit here is a short hop rather than a trip. A lot of it is new: in Jefferson Township, 62 percent of the roughly 5,700 homes were built in 2000 or later, according to Census Bureau survey data, and many of those lots back onto woods nobody ever pruned. For pruning and the rest of what we do here, see tree service in Blacklick. The service areas page lists the other towns.
Tree Removal Reviews From A.S.H. Customers
A tree removal is done on your property, close to your house, by people you have only just met. Trust is the whole job. What A.S.H. customers write about comes back to the same three things: the crew turned up when it said it would, did the work that was agreed, and left the yard clean. Those are the things to look for in any review before you book tree removal in Blacklick, ours included.
Eduardo was fantastic to work with. Quick to schedule and helpful by listening to what my goals and concerns were. I had a smaller project so he was able to squeeze me in the very next day after providing an estimate. Quality work that was reasonably priced.
The work crew knew what I wanted them to do. They showed up on time and started to work, checking with me to make sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. They did a great job with cleanup. Eduardo was a pleasant person and professional with his job.
I had reached out to get a quote after our Black Walnut Tree had some large branches break off in high winds. Ed made some recommendations and talked me through what branches he would remove. His team showed up on time and did a great job! Not only do our trees look great and healthy, but his team did a great job cleaning up the yard after.
Dead Ash Along the Back Line
Emerald ash borer reached central Ohio early. In 2003, the USDA Forest Service reported 15 infested trees in Columbus, all landscape trees bought from a Michigan nursery, and the insect spread from there through every woodlot and fence row in the area. The ash that grew wild along Blacklick's tree lines are mostly dead now.
A dead ash dries out and turns brittle, and it should not be climbed. We take those down from the bucket, or fell them where there is open ground to drop them into, and cut them in pieces where there is not. If you have several dead ash along the back of the yard, taking them in one visit costs less than taking them one at a time. For how a takedown runs, see tree removal.

Creek-Bottom Lots on Blacklick Creek
Blacklick Creek runs about 27 miles down to Big Walnut Creek, and the land along it floods. In September 1979, heavy rain from Hurricane Frederic pushed the creek over a levee and flooded three hundred homes in Blacklick Estates. Lots near the creek and its side channels stay wet, and trees on soft ground let go more easily in a storm than the same tree on dry land.
Wet ground also changes how we work. A loaded truck ruts a soaked lawn, so on creek lots the climber does more of the cutting and the brush is carried to the chipper. If the ground is too soft on the day, we would rather move the date than leave tire tracks across your yard.
Edge Trees Lean Toward Your Yard
Trees at the edge of a woodlot grow toward the light, which usually means toward your lawn, your fence or your roof. When one fails, it rarely falls back into the woods. So before we say anything about removing a tree, we read which way it is loaded, and we plan the drop so it lands where the cleanup is easiest, not where gravity picks.
Not every edge tree needs to come down. A sound tree with one heavy limb over the shed is a pruning job. A leaning tree with lifting soil on the far side, or a dead top, is a removal. We tell you which you have.
Township Ground, Not City Ground
Because Blacklick is township ground rather than a city, there is no city forester to call and no city tree permit like the ones in nearby cities. The trees on your side of the property line are yours to manage. A tree close to the road can still stand in a public right-of-way, so if you are not sure where your line runs, we check it with you on the free visit before any work is planned.
After a storm, a tree on the house or across the driveway is a phone call, not a form: call 614-701-0806. Storm damage tree removal covers how we take apart a tree that has already failed.
What Tree Removal in Blacklick Costs
The price of a tree removal in Blacklick comes from the tree and the ground around it: height and spread, whether it is dead and brittle, whether it can be dropped into open ground or has to come down in pieces, how wet the lot is, and how much cleanup you want. We give a written price after a look, and the estimate is free. Stumps can be ground out on the same visit with stump grinding. For how pricing works, see what tree removal costs. Nearby, we also take trees down in Reynoldsburg, Gahanna and New Albany.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a permit to take down a tree in Blacklick?
Blacklick is unincorporated, so there is no city tree permit like the ones in nearby cities. A tree close to the road can still be in a public right-of-way, so we check where your line runs on the free visit.
The woods behind my house are full of dead ash. Do they all have to come down?
Only the ones that can reach something you care about: the house, the fence, the shed or a path you use. Dead ash deep in the woods can usually be left to fall on their own. We walk the line with you and mark which is which.
Blacklick is close to you. How soon can you come?
Close enough that we can usually offer the day and window you want. Pick one when you book, and we call to confirm it.
Can you get equipment into a wooded back lot?
Usually. If the truck cannot reach the tree, a climber rigs it down and the brush comes out by hand. It takes longer, and the written price says so up front.
Is the stump included?
Stump grinding is a separate line, quoted at the same visit. See stump grinding.
Do you work near the Metro Park?
Yes, on private lots around it. Blacklick Woods Metro Park, the first park in the Metro Parks system, protects one of the oldest beech-maple forests in central Ohio. Trees inside the park belong to the park; the ones on your side of the fence are yours.
