Where we work around Columbus
A.S.H. Tree Service is based in Reynoldsburg, and that is the only place we are based. From there we cover the east side of Columbus and the towns around it, and we travel further when the job calls for it. Wherever you are, the deal is the same: you pick the time, and we show up.
Close to home
These are the towns around our own yard, and most of our work happens here. Short drives mean we can take the time slot you want rather than the one that suits our route.
Reynoldsburg. Home. An established east-side suburb where the yard trees are as old as the streets, and where the trucks start every morning.
Blacklick. Just north of us, where Reynoldsburg, Gahanna and the township meet. Plenty of lots here back onto wooded edges, and emerald ash borer has left dead ash standing along many of them.
Pickerington. Subdivision streets where the trees are the same age as the houses. Ornamental pears that split at the fork and young shade trees that need structural pruning while it is still a small job.
Whitehall. Between Bexley and Reynoldsburg, on older lots with mature trees close to the house and not much room to drop anything. Most of it comes down in pieces, on rope.
Gahanna. Gahanna puts the upkeep of street trees on the property owner next to them, but removing one from the public right-of-way still takes a Right of Way Permit from the city first. We will look at which side of the line your tree is on during the visit.
Bexley. Most trees between the curb and the sidewalk in Bexley belong to the city, and the city’s Forestry Department is the one to call about them. The big old trees behind the sidewalk are the ones we get asked about.
Pataskala. Acreage to the east: long drives, woodlot edges, fence rows of dead ash and black walnut. Jobs here are usually several trees in a day, planned as one visit.
The same crew, whichever town you are in
A regular drive
Columbus. The east side of the city is some of the closest work we do. Columbus treats the tree lawn, the strip between the street and the sidewalk, as public property, and the trees in it belong to the city. Pruning or removing one takes a free Forestry permit, a city arborist inspects the tree first, and the work has to be done by a certified arborist. Trees on your side of the sidewalk are yours.
Canal Winchester. Two towns in one: an old village middle with mature trees close to old houses, ringed by newer streets. Dead ash on lot edges is the common call.
Groveport. An old small town with big yard trees: pin oak carrying dead lower limbs, silver maple, walnut and honey locust. One of the shorter runs we make.
New Albany. Newer, larger lots with big trees worth keeping, so the job is as often pruning and checking a tree as taking it down.
Lithopolis. A small village south of Canal Winchester, with the mature trees and tight old lots that come with that.
Further out
These take longer to reach, so we plan them ahead. Your window still holds.
Westerville. The Westerville Shade Tree Commission controls planting and removal of trees in the tree lawn. Permits come from the Parks and Recreation Department on North Cleveland Avenue.
Dublin. Dublin protects trees six inches or more across at chest height, on private land as well as public, and removing one needs a tree removal permit from the city. Dead, diseased and hazardous trees are the usual grounds. Ask before any saw starts.
Worthington. Older streets with a mature canopy, north of the city. Check with the city before touching a tree in the tree lawn.
Grove City. South-west of Columbus, the far side of the metro from us, and we still come.
Lancaster. Down Route 33 in Fairfield County. The city has its own tree commission and city arborist for the trees along its streets.
What people ask about where we go
Do you have an office in my town?
No. We are based in Reynoldsburg and we drive to you. Same number, 614-701-0806, and the same crew, whether the tree is in Reynoldsburg or Dublin.
My town is not on this page. Will you still come?
Call and ask. If it is a reasonable drive from Reynoldsburg we will usually come, and if it is not, we will tell you straight away rather than leave you waiting.
Who owns the tree between the sidewalk and the street?
It depends on the city. In Columbus and most of Bexley it is the city’s tree. In Gahanna the upkeep falls to the owner next to it, but removal still needs a permit. Check before you book anyone, us included. We will help you work it out on the free visit.
Does it cost more if I am further away?
The price comes from the visit, in writing, before any work starts. What moves it is the tree and what is under it. See what tree removal costs.

We stand under it, tell you whether it needs work at all, and put the price in writing if it does. No pressure either way.
