Tree Removal Across Grove City, OH

Grove City is on the southwest side of Columbus, the far side of the metro from our base in Reynoldsburg, so we plan visits there ahead and fit the whole job into one day. Most of the city is newer: 41 percent of its homes were built in 2000 or later, around an older town center. That split decides most of the tree removal in Grove City we do: subdivision trees reaching the size where they fail, and big old trees close to older houses near the center. For pruning and the rest of what we do there, see tree service in Grove City, and the service areas page lists the other towns.

What A.S.H. customers write about comes back to the same three things: the crew turned up when it said it would, did the work that was agreed, and left the yard clean. Those are the things to look for in any review before you book tree removal in Grove City, ours included.

Eduardo was fantastic to work with. Quick to schedule and helpful by listening to what my goals and concerns were. I had a smaller project so he was able to squeeze me in the very next day after providing an estimate. Quality work that was reasonably priced.

The work crew knew what I wanted them to do. They showed up on time and started to work, checking with me to make sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. They did a great job with cleanup. Eduardo was a pleasant person and professional with his job.

I had reached out to get a quote after our Black Walnut Tree had some large branches break off in high winds. Ed made some recommendations and talked me through what branches he would remove. His team showed up on time and did a great job! Not only do our trees look great and healthy, but his team did a great job cleaning up the yard after.

Subdivision Trees That Have Come of Age

Grove City grew fast, and many of its neighborhoods were planted with the same few fast-growing trees at the same time. Callery pears, the species sold as the Bradford pear, and silver maples look fine for fifteen or twenty years. Then they reach full size and start to split at a narrow fork, often in the first strong storm after they get there. Ohio has since banned the sale of Callery pear as an invasive plant, but the ones already planted are still standing in front yards across the city.

A pear or silver maple that has already split in half rarely recovers. The half still standing has the same weak fork, now with nothing balancing it. Most of the time the safe answer is to take the rest of the tree down. Catching a weak fork early, before it fails, is a much smaller job: see trimming and pruning.

Grove City Right-of-Way Trees Are the City's

Grove City's Urban Forestry Division is responsible for the city's public trees, about 12,000 of them, including the planting, maintenance and removal of every tree in the city right-of-way. If the tree you are worried about stands along the street in the right-of-way, it is the city's to handle, so start with them.

Trees on your own lot, front yard or back, are yours to decide about, and those are the ones we take down. If you are not sure which side of the line a tree is on, we will tell you at the estimate before anything is priced.

Taking Down a Split Pear or Silver Maple

A tree that has already split is under strain in ways a healthy tree is not. Half of it may be on the ground or hung up in the other half, with the wood twisted and loaded. We take the hanging pieces first, from the bucket or with a climber, then the standing half in sections, so nothing lets go on its own.

The brush goes straight through the chipper, the trunk is cut into rounds, and the yard is raked clean before we leave. If the split tree came down in a storm and is on a roof or a car, call rather than use the form. Storm damage tree removal covers how that work runs.

The Older Trees Near the Town Center

Around the older town center, the houses are older and so are the trees: bigger, closer to roofs and to each other. Those are the removals that need rope work, a climber and a careful plan for where each piece lands. Old trees near the center also tend to hide decay behind old pruning wounds, which we check before trusting any limb with a rope.

When the wood is sound, a well-planned reduction can sometimes keep a tree that looked like a removal at first glance. We will tell you which it is. For how a sectioned takedown runs, see tree removal.

What Tree Removal in Grove City Costs

The price of a tree removal in Grove City comes from the tree and what is around it: its height and spread, whether it can be lowered into open lawn or has to come down piece by piece over a roof or a fence, whether it has already split, and how much cleanup you want. We give a written price after a look, and the estimate is free. Stump grinding is a separate line, quoted at the same visit. For how pricing works, see what tree removal costs.

Frequently asked questions

My pear tree split in half. Can it be saved?

Rarely. The half that is still standing has the same weak fork and nothing balancing it. In most cases the safe answer is to take the rest down, and we will tell you honestly if yours is the exception.

Who takes care of the tree along the street in front of my house?

If it stands in the right-of-way, the city does. The City of Grove City plants, maintains and removes right-of-way trees through its Urban Forestry Division.

Grove City is across town from you. Is that a problem?

No. We plan Grove City visits ahead and fit the job into one day. You pick the day and the window, and we keep it.

Can you grind the stumps while you are there?

Yes. Stump grinding is quoted at the same visit as a separate line. See stump grinding.

What happens to the wood?

The brush is chipped on site. Logs are cut to a length you can handle and left where you want them, or hauled away. You decide at the estimate.

Should I replace the tree with another pear?

No. Callery pear can no longer be sold in Ohio. Pick a tree that grows a strong single trunk and fits the space at full size, and plant it a few feet from the old stump.
