Tree Removal Across Whitehall, OH

Whitehall is about six miles east of downtown Columbus, between the city and our base in Reynoldsburg. It incorporated in 1947 and grew fast after the war, and the housing shows it: 47 percent of its roughly 8,900 homes were built before 1960, according to Census Bureau survey data, with the median home built in 1962. The shade trees planted with those houses have had seventy years to grow. For pruning and the rest of what we do here, see tree service in Whitehall. The service areas page lists the other towns.

A tree removal is done on your property, close to your house, by people you have only just met. Trust is the whole job. What A.S.H. customers write about comes back to the same three things: the crew turned up when it said it would, did the work that was agreed, and left the yard clean. Those are the things to look for in any review before you book tree removal in Whitehall, ours included.

Eduardo was fantastic to work with. Quick to schedule and helpful by listening to what my goals and concerns were. I had a smaller project so he was able to squeeze me in the very next day after providing an estimate. Quality work that was reasonably priced.

The work crew knew what I wanted them to do. They showed up on time and started to work, checking with me to make sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. They did a great job with cleanup. Eduardo was a pleasant person and professional with his job.

I had reached out to get a quote after our Black Walnut Tree had some large branches break off in high winds. Ed made some recommendations and talked me through what branches he would remove. His team showed up on time and did a great job! Not only do our trees look great and healthy, but his team did a great job cleaning up the yard after.

Big Trees on Small Post-War Lots

Whitehall filled in with rows of modest homes on narrow lots. The maples and oaks planted then are now often wider than the lot they stand on, with a crown hanging over the house, the detached garage and at least one neighbor. A tree like that cannot be felled. It comes apart from the top down.

A climber or the bucket takes the crown off limb by limb, each piece lowered on rope into a cleared spot. Then the trunk comes down in rounds short enough to carry. Narrow side yards usually mean brush goes out by hand to the chipper at the curb. For how a sectioned takedown runs, see tree removal.

Lines Through the Back-Yard Canopy

On many older Whitehall blocks the utility lines run along the back of the lots, straight through the canopy of the back-yard trees. The line from the pole to your house is one we plan around when we work. The lines running pole to pole belong to the power company, and clearing around those is their contractors' job, not ours or yours.

If a limb is resting on a line, call the utility before anyone touches the tree. Once the line is safe, we can take the rest of the tree down, and the cuts are planned so nothing swings back into the wires on the way down.

When the Work Leans Over the Neighbor

On a lot this size, a big tree is rarely just yours to look at. Limbs reach over the neighbor's garage, their fence and sometimes their roof. If the work reaches over their yard, we talk to them before we start, and we plan the drop zone with both of you so nobody comes home to a surprise.

Removing the tree also changes the neighbor's view and shade, so it is worth a word over the fence before the estimate. If it turns out the tree only needs its heavy limbs reduced, that is a pruning job, and we will tell you so.

Storm Damage on Whitehall Streets

Old trees on small lots meet storms with nowhere to fall but onto something. The June 29, 2012 derecho put a 71 mph gust through Columbus, with gusts of 70 to 80 mph around it, and on August 11, 2026, the National Weather Service measured an 82 mph gust at John Glenn Columbus International Airport. Afterward, the calls are about limbs on garages and trees across driveways.

If a tree is on your house, call rather than use the form. Whitehall is a few minutes from our base, and we will give you an honest arrival time. See storm damage tree removal for how we take apart a tree that has already failed.

What Tree Removal in Whitehall Costs

On a small Whitehall lot, the price comes less from the size of the tree than from what is under it: a garage roof, the lines, the neighbor's fence, and how far the brush has to be carried. We give a written price after a look, and the estimate is free. The crew chips and hauls the brush on the day; the city's curbside leaf collection runs from early November through mid-December and is for leaves, not limbs. Stump grinding is quoted at the same visit. For how pricing works, see what tree removal costs. Nearby, we also take trees down in Bexley and Columbus.

Frequently asked questions

My tree hangs over my neighbor's garage. Can you still take it down?

Yes. That is ordinary work on Whitehall lots. The tree comes apart in small sections that are roped and lowered, so nothing falls onto the garage. If the work reaches over their yard, we ask them first.

There are power lines running through my back-yard tree. Who handles that?

Lines between poles belong to the power company, and their contractors clear around them. The line from the pole to your house is one we plan around. If a limb is already on a line, call the utility first.

Is it better to trim my old maple or remove it?

It depends on its structure, not its size. Deadwood and a few long limbs is usually a pruning job. A split trunk, a large cavity or heavy decay at the base changes that, and we will tell you which you have.

How close is Whitehall to you?

Very. Our crew is based in Reynoldsburg, just east of Whitehall, so we can usually offer the day and window you want.

Do you haul everything away?

Yes, unless you want the logs. Brush is chipped on site and the wood is hauled or cut to a length you can handle. The written price says which.

Do you work all over Whitehall?

Yes, from the blocks off Main Street to the neighborhoods around Whitehall-Yearling High School and out toward Big Walnut Creek.
